May 10, 2013 James Gregory (Mission Chairperson) would like to announce good news. Here is:

Good news! Bucky Carver and James Gregory worked on West Virginia Deaf mission trip on May 20th thru 23rd at Martinsburg, WV. We requested SBCD – North American Mission Committee - $2,000 for the Deaf Mission costs. They approved 100%. We thanked them to support 100% for this mission. We will have a meeting with Jim Drake (West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptist) to survey the area. We ask each of you to pray this deaf mission.

Everywhere Fun Fair VBS 2013 ,

June 17-21; 9 am – 12:15 pm: Ages 3 years through 5th grade

Get ready for this global fair Fun Fair takes children to a global celebration with the look and feel of a world’s fair. Children will make friends with neighbors around the world and discover that God’s love can be found everywhere, including their own neighborhoods. Children will be introduced to special places from all over the world and discover that we are all neighbors and all children of God. Children will experience the love of Jesus, meet neighbors from the Bible, and explore the everyday life of neighbors from Japan, Zimbabwe, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Mexico. Kids will learn that God’s love welcomes everyone, as they understand how to love and serve God and be a neighbor to the world. Children will also learn how to have a deeper relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

TBCD Committee Makes Plans

March 14, 2013 Greg Johannsen, Donna Johannsen, Fredrick Markham and Nancy Markham went to Nashville to have a meeting about the Tennessee Baptist Conference of the Deaf (TBCD) in February 23 at Brentwood Baptist Deaf Church. TBCD will be at Brentwood Baptist Deaf Church during the weekend of May 31-June 2, 2013.

Youth Ministry Meeting – March 10

Pastor Search Committee – update

The Pastor Search Committee has been meeting monthly and corresponding via emails regularly. There have been four applicants to date; three were rejected due to lack of qualifications, conflicting doctrine, or because the applicant was a "local" person. (It was strongly expressed by some members of the FBC Deaf Congregation that a person be sought who was not from the local community.) That leaves one potential applicant, but the committee is seeking more applicants by getting the word out more aggressively. Initially the announcement for the pastor's position was posted only in the SBCD website.

The process is a slow one, and the committee asks for patience and prayers. If you have any questions, feel free to ask one of the members of the PSC. However, the committee respectfully asks that names of rejected applicants are to be left private.
