Parent 2 Parent is a ministry to parents of young children which began at FBC last fall. It consists of two elements:
Our group is growing, so we are in need of five or six couples to serve as mentors. Mentors would not be required to attend the monthly sessions and would mutually agree with your new-parent couple on when and how often to meet.
This is a wonderful opportunity to minister to young families, so please prayerfully consider getting involved. Contact Susan Tatum at 567-5920 for more information or to volunteer.
Moms’ Connection is for mothers of children of all ages- from brand new moms to moms of school age children. Our hope is that we may connect with each other and our community through fellowship and community service. We will be involved in service each month as moms, and at times will do projects that will involve our children. Please join us the 2nd Friday of each month from 10am- noon. Childcare is provided.
Note: The picture is from our Thanksgiving basket project last year. The baskets went to families at South Knox Elementary.
Parent 2 Parent
Connecting new parents with experienced parents
Friday, March 27, 2011, 6:00 pm
Dinner meeting at the home of the McEntyre’s, 1905 Kemper Lane, 37920
Each family is asked to bring a side dish or dessert.
Children are included.
Our Parent 2 Parent ministry consists of two elements.
*One is centered around material entitled “The Parenting Project”, which is given to all new parents when their baby is dedicated. The group meets once every month to discuss certain topics and share ideas.
*The second element involves pairing up these new parents with a mentoring couple who have “been there, done that” and would be willing to walk along side new parents as they experience the joys and trials of parenting. The mentors would arrange opportunities to get together with their “adopted Couple” to offer support, fellowship, and encouragement. This could be sharing a meal together, a relaxed evening in the home, or other opportunities.

Do you have a son or daughter, grandson or granddaughter who…
If so … you are invited to UNDERSTANDING YOUR TEENAGER, a lively, informative presentation of some of the best parenting advice you’ll ever get on raising capable, emotionally-healthy teenagers. For one night and one night only, August 22nd from 6:00-9:00pm, the MERGE churches are coming together to offer an evening just for adults. This is not an event just for families who are having difficulty with their kids. Instead, it’s for every parent or grandparent who wants to stay close to their kids during their teen years and also wants to influence them to become the kind of young men and women God created them to be. Come for some encouragement, some practical ideas, and a chance to interact with others like yourself who care enough about their kids to sharpen their parenting skills.
UNDERSTANDING YOUR TEENAGER will be presented by Duffy Robbins, a veteran youth worker and youth ministry educator. He has authored several best-selling books for youth workers and is a popular speaker at youth ministry training events, youth gatherings and Christian festivals all over the world. A professor of youth ministry at Eastern College in St. Davids, Pennsylvania, he and his wife Maggie have two grown daughters.
This night is for anyone who lives with teenagers, has children who will eventually become teenagers, or has children who, at the rate they are going, may not make it to their teenager years. More than 14 churches have already committed to take part in this event. The cost of the evening is $10 for individuals, $15 for couples. You can register online at www.studentmerge.com or call Michael McEntyre or Carol Linger at the church office. Mark your calendars now, you won’t regret it.
