FISH Ministry
FISH is a cooperative community food distribution service. It operates Monday-Friday, 52 weeks a year. The first Monday of each month, volunteers work in First Baptist’s pantry from 9-3 handing out groceries to families and delivering groceries to disabled clients’ homes.
Interfaith Hospitality Network
IHN provides shelter, meals and support services to families without homes. First Baptist hosts IHN once a quarter. IHN families sleep at First Baptist and church volunteers provide meals, interact with families and take turns spending the night at the church with IHN families.
ESOL
English to Speakers of Other Languages is a program designed to teach English to foreign born students. ESOL meets each Wednesday night. Volunteers work one on one with students, provide rides and child care. You do not have to speak a foreign language to volunteer.
Handyman Ministry
Handy men and women paint, build wheel chair ramps, do small wiring jobs, and make other minor repairs for individuals in need in the community.
Making Money Work Budgeting Classes
Making Money Work classes are designed for low in-come families who need help living on a budget. Classes are help on Mondays from 10 am – noon. Volunteers so everything from teach the class, to serve snacks, to working with individual families to create their budget.
KIDS HOPE USA
Did you know that one hour a week can make a huge difference in the life of a child at South Knoxville Elementary School? Kids Hope is a mentoring program that matches one church member to one child at a local elementary school.
