"Thin places," said Celtic Christians, are the sacred spaces in the world where heaven comes close to touching earth. For the First Baptist family, our sanctuary has been that thin place since 1925. From the platform, we have welcomed the missing, reunited believers, watched a groom kiss his bride, and grieved with the same groom years later as he mourned his lost loved one. We have dedicated babies and welcomed adopted children. We have walked the aisle, created new worship services, united with a community during times of tragedy, and joined the service by television when we could not attend in person. The platform has been a thin place for the past 83 years.
In 2009, we will have the opportunity to reach beyond these memories into a new future for the sanctuary platform and media ministry.
