Pastor for Youth and College Students Job Description
The Pastor for Youth and College Students will be responsible for the overall program for youth (ages 6th-12th grade) and college students. This consists of developing and implementing a comprehensive, relationally engaging program of discipleship, outreach, and service among the youth and college students of our church. The Pastor for Youth and College Students will lead and/or enlist volunteers to help lead all youth and college events, participate weekly in staff meetings, and be expected to attend other church-wide gatherings.
Youth Ministry Essential Duties
- Work with the Youth Ministry Team to plan and implement Bible study opportunities, outreach, and retreats
- Teach weekly Biblically-based, age-appropriate Bible studies
- Plan and execute annual trips like summer beach trip and other discipleship opportunities
- Plan and execute local (ongoing) and international mission experiences (every two years)
- Develop relationships among youth for encouragement and growth in discipleship
- Actively seek to include youth who are disconnected to become part of the youth ministry
- Lead volunteers to utilize their skills, looking for ways to involve more adults in youth ministry
- Provide counseling to youths and help them realize their individual goals
- Meet regularly with parents of youth group members and coordinate with them regarding their children’s involvement and participation in the church
- Prepare an annual youth budget in consultation with leadership for recommendation to the Finance Committee
- Assist in organizing and compiling of Sunday school and small group curriculum
- Train youth on how to be future faith-filled leaders.
College Ministry Essential Duties
• Plan, execute, and evaluate a comprehensive program that will provide an atmosphere for college students/early 20s to discover and continue to grow in the fullness of God;
• Plan, coordinate, and implement weekly Bible study and fellowship;
• Coordinate monthly outreach programs via special events;
• Provide vision and implementation for annual retreats and mission experience for spiritual growth, discipleship, training and reaching others with the good news of Jesus Christ;
• Weekly contact of college students/early 20s and/or counseling as needed;
• Maintain contact and minister to FBC college students during their return from their various campuses as needed;
• Prepare an annual college budget in consultation with leadership for recommendation to the Finance Committee; and other duties as assigned by the Executive Pastor.
Status: Full time.
Compensation: TBD.
Supervision: Executive Pastor or Pastor for Young Adults and Discipleship.
